![]() Defensive capabilities and mechanics leave a little more to be desired, as the overall stiffness of player movement leads to some rather robotic encounters and matchups, as players either go down too easily, or lose the ball like they never had it to begin with. Taking that turn straight after receiving a pass feels satisfying if done right, encouraging a constant sense of decision making and timing between passes and shots. Shooting feels tight and responsive, and while dribbling and handling feels a little stiffer this time around, there’s now a greater emphasis on first touches, as players have a greater range of control and direction, both of which can be applied on and off the ball. From a gameplay perspective, most of what PES 202o offered initially, has carried over. Whether it’s the polished visuals, sleek presentation or nuanced gameplay, there’s multiple layers of football glory that both hardcore and casual fans can enjoy. That being said, this entry may not attract those who already purchased last year’s entry, and with little to no additions in terms of both modes and overall scope, I can see how FIFA 21 may have the upper hand this year. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing however, as small changes have indeed made to the gameplay, resulting in the best overall entry the series has seen on this generation. eFootball PES 2021: Season Update has been aptly named, as it’s basically a re-skinned version of last year’s already impressive eFootball PES 2020. Year after year the FIFA community becomes more unsettled as EA rehash and resell old ideas.The Pro Evolution Soccer series has always been a personal favourite of mine, and while I love the exciting modes and interesting iterations that FIFA brings to the table, I have always admired the PES series for it’s tactical nature, and solid gameplay. It is a suitable time for PES to make an attack on the soccer game market as FIFA21 looms around the corner. Players won’t know for sure until the game’s Season Update tomorrow, and it’s right for the community to be wary when it comes to Konami’s promises about gameplay changes. While PES2021 runs on the same game engine as the previous year’s title, there is hope that Konami is listening to the community and providing the necessary changes in the run-up to next year’s apparently game-changing PES title. AI is notoriously shoddy, especially when it comes to fouls, refereeing, and dribbling. PES has been in the honest need of changes to gameplay after the last few years of releases. These ideas about changes to the gameplay have been confirmed by others on Twitter, although it should be noted that much of this gameplay is single-player – multiplayer games aren’t playable during early access. Mids take you on to create space and rip long shots. Dribbling is awesome! The A.I dribbles at you successfully after all these years. Played about 3hrs worth of matches on #eFootballPES2021 and it’s def PES 2020 with some subtle changes that make the game more enjoyable IMO.
